Summary

Drive to and walk through a variety of habitats on Sandstone Ranch, the newest of Douglas County’s Open Spaces. As yet it is closed to the public while Douglas County Open Space personnel formulate a master plan for best conservation and educational use. A group of volunteer naturalists is surveying the natural resources of the of the 2038-acre ranch to contribute live data to the planning process. Your observations will be welcome additions to the data. Sandstone offers the visitor a beautiful vista: red rock formations, prairie, a variety of woodlands, and two riparian areas, Gove and West Plum Creek. Historic ranch buildings are of interest as well. Bring binoculars, walking sticks and a sack lunch.
