Summary
Franktown has Castlewood Canyon State Park, Hidden Mesa, Gateway Mesa, the Cherry Creek Trail and several gravel pit lakes. We'll visit the areas which seem to have the most birds in September. Some birds are here year round and some have arrived to spend the winter or are passing through. Among the birds we are likely to see are the Woodhouse's scrub jay, spotted towhee, and maybe a Townsend's solitaire which has arrived for the winter, singing among the junipers. We'll end the day by eating lunch while we watch the Kingery feeders at their house. Dress warmly and wear hiking boots.
